How to Deactivate your Facebook Account

To deactivate your Facebook account.
  1. Click  at the top right of any Facebook page.
  2. Click Settings, then click Your Facebook Information in the left column.
  3. Click Deactivation and Deletion.
  4. Choose Deactivate Account, then click Continue to Account Deactivation and follow the to instruction to confirm. 


How to deactivate your Facebook account on the Facebook app?
  1. Click the 3 lines at the top right in the Facebook app.
  2. Click Settings and Privacy.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Click Account ownership and control.
  5. Click Deactivation and Deletion.
  6. Select Deactivate account and then click Continue to Account Deactivation and follow the to instruction to confirm.

Once your Facebook account is deactivated, you can reactivate whenever you want just log in your account again to reactivate.

People can't see your timeline or search for you.

Some information may remain visible to others like messages you to friends or send you a message.

Your friends may still see your name in their friend list. This is only visible to your friends and only from their friend list.

Group admins may still be able to see your posts and comments, along with your name.

You can still chat with your friends on Messenger.

To permanent delete your account. 
  1. Click  at the top right of any Facebook page.
  2. Click Settings, then click Your Facebook Information in the left column.
  3. Click Deactivation and Deletion.
  4. Choose Delete Account, then click Continue to Account Deletion. 
  5. Enter your password, click Continue and then Delete Account.

You won't be able to reactivate your account.

You'll be no longer able to use Messanger.
You won't be able to use Facebook Login for other apps you may have signed up for with your Facebook account. 


Facebook says it may take up to 90 days from the beginning of the deletion process to delete all the things you've posted. While Facebook is removing your information, it is not accessible to other people using Facebook.
